Standard vertical lift
When the breast droops significantly, often the best cone-shaped breast can be achieved by gathering skin at the lower part of the breast. This requires a scar from the areola to the inframammary crease. This scar fades nicely by 6 to 12 months. If the surgeon tries to lift such a breast by only a scar around the areola (Benelli type), it results in an inferior flat-shaped breast. This is the case even when an augmentation is done at the same time.
Note: Scars dark at six weeks.
